Last Friday night we celebrated the opening of the Olympic games by eating Chinese Food and conducting our own opening ceremonies and games. We used sparklers for our torch, we marched in with different flags, we competed in cycling, javelin, balance beam, long jump, the 100 meter race and a relay. We had a medal ceremony complete with national anthems from Great Britain, France and the United States. Afterwards we watched the real parade of nations. It was so neat to see people from all over the world and to teach the kids that in heaven there will be people from every tongue, tribe and nation. We have continued this week to watch as Michael Phelps has captured 7 gold medals. We record the games at night and let the kids watch in the morning. Its a little more than the recommended viewing time for kids their age, but its not every year we get to watch the Olympics. We are having a lot of fun!
