Happy Birthday Kim

Kim

A cluttered counter; an overstuffed outgoing box;
toys strewn across the family room floor
a dishwasher waiting to be emptied;
some laundry’s done; but there will always be more.

The children are all vying for attention;
some laughing, some crying, and others under her feet
She looks at the clock; Mitch will be home soon,
And he’ll be wondering what there is to eat.

Sometimes she looks like a cook, a waitress,
and a busboy all rolled into one
Don’t forget her role as a counselor, psychologist,
and conflict manager…Her job is never done.

She’s a chauffeur and a social coordinator,
a teacher, a nurse, and secretary on the phone.
But none of these jobs define her at all,
for to us she’s the very heart of our home.

We’re thankful for all of the work that she does,
without her where would we be?
But more than what she does, it’s who she is
that makes her so special, you see.

Her laughter fills the house with the fragrance of joy,
her smile is contagious and addictive.
Each day she loves, cares and nurtures,
pouring out like a fine glass all she can give.

Everything about her makes me smile,
having her by my side brings fulfillment and joy.
I’m so grateful that God placed us together forever;
and made that girl to complete this boy.

But as much as we love her, God loves her more;
For His love far surpasses that of man
Nothing in all of creation, no power nor anything
could ever pluck her from His mighty hand.

No, it’s not what she does that describes or defines her,
though those things certainly play big part.
The best way that I can describe my precious wife
is to confess—that she’s the one who’s stolen my heart.
